Tree Removal for Construction of Palmer Pond Dam Administrative Road and Bridge

The action involves the cutting of 266 trees for construction of an administrative access road and bridge over the outlet of Palmer Pond. The road and bridge are necessary to facilitate access to both sides of the Palmer Pond dam during maintenance and repair activities. The construction project is located in the Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest in the Town of North Hudson, New York and is included in the approved 2015 Community Connector Trail Plan/Final SEIS which serves as an amendment to the Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest Unit Management Plan. Tree cutting will be in compliance with Lands and Forests Policy 91-2 on Cutting, Removal or Destruction of Trees and Other Vegetation on Forest Preserve Lands.

Negative Declaration

Essex County - The Village of Lake Placid, Inc., as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Water System Improvement Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the rehabilitation of the pressure filters at the water filtration plant along with updates on the monitoring equipment, the SCADA system and the physical plant; the replacement of approximately 4,000 foot of aged and undersized water main along the Village's Main Street; and the construction of an additional 1.5 million gallon water storage tank. The project is located at the Water filtration plant on George and Bliss Lane; the Water storage tank on Reservoir Road; and the Village's Main Street for water main replacement in the Village of Lake Placid, New York.

Fulton County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Bradley Reed Enterprises Inc. Mined Land Reclamation Permit Application will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposal by the applicant for a new 26 acre life of mine sand and gravel mine (surface unconsolidated material) on a 30.75 acre parcel located in the Town of Mayfield and owned by the permittee. The mine will be operated as a traditional surface opening extraction by means of mechanical excavating and processing by screening standard to this type of unconsolidated mining operation. The site was previously wooded and has not been previously mined. Reclamation will be restoration to meadowland. The project is located on the south side of State Route 30, and north of State Route 29 in the Town of Mayfield, New York.
