Negative Declaration

Greene County - Greene County, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Emergency Services Hunter Mountain Tower Replacement will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. Greene County is a member of a consortium of counties engaged in improving interoperable emergency communications. Greene County is currently upgrading their emergency services telecommunications system in order to improve reliability, extend coverage areas and enhance public safety. As part of this project the County is replacing an existing outdated radio tower on Hunter Mountain with a new 180 foot self-supported lattice tower that will communicate with the recently constructed Windham Mt. Tower and a future tower in the Town of New Baltimore. The new tower and a 276 square foot equipment shelter will be located in a 0.11 acre fenced compound on the top of Hunter Mountain adjacent to an existing cellular tower. It will be accessed via an existing gravel access drive and will be screened by heavy vegetation from the ski area. The project is located on the top of Hunter Mountain Ski Area in the Town of Hunter, New York.
