Negative Declaration

Chautauqua County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Briggs Mine Expansion and Mining into Groundwater Table will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a 19 acre expansion to the life of mine limits and to excavate into the groundwater table to make a 2.9 acre pond within the currently approved life of mine limits. There will be no changes to the present mining methods or material processing. The project is located at north side of Brownell Road, approximately 3300 feet east of intersection with State Route 474 in the Town of Clymer, New York.
