Negative Declaration

Rensselaer County - The Village of Schaghticoke, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Village of Schaghticoke Water System Improvements will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the installation of 8 inch and 12 inch water main, hydrants, and appurtenances,3/4 inch minimum copper service laterals, curb and corporation stops, new in house water meters. The project also includes the construction of a new 300,000 gallon water storage tank. Water distribution main work will occur within the previously disturbed road right-of-way (ROW). The proposed water storage tank will be constructed on lands owned by the Village and adjacent to area school property.

Specifically: Installation/Replacement of 19,000linear feet of 8 inch water main; Installation/Replacement of 1,000linear feet of 12 inch water main to new water tank, Installation of Well Supply Treatment System adjacent to Well Pump Building and on lands Village owns disturbed by previous projects, Installation of 300,000 gallon water tank to replace 1924 undersized water tank that has seismic and safety deficiencies.

The project is located on Route 40 and Route 67 and surrounding areas in the Village of Schaghticoke, New York.
