Project Description:

The applicant proposes to excavate an approximate 15,232 square foot area within and adjacent to a NYSDEC-regulated tidal wetland to a depth of two feet to remove a stand of Phragmites australis seaward of mean high water. The resultant 1,200 cu. yds. of excavated material is proposed to be dewatered on-site and then trucked to an approved landfill for disposal. Approximately 1,200 cu. yds. of clean fill from an upland source is proposed to be placed in the excavated area. The filled area is then proposed to be planted with native vegetation. The purpose of the project is wetland restoration. The proposed project is located at 40 La Forest Lane in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, SCTM# 301-12-5-5.
