Disturbance is associated with the installation of an inground pool, patio, fence and rain garden, within the 100 ft adjacent area. Disturbance to the freshwater wetland 100 ft adjacent area is approximately 2,392 SF.

The proposed activity is not in an area of identified archaeological sensitivity and no known registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified or documented for the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Project Description:

The applicant is proposing the construction of a 120-foot-tall communication tower and associated structures in a previously disturbed area within the Sloatsburg Service Area on the NYS Thruway (milepost 33.0). The proposed structures are located within a section of the Ramapo River Corridor that is designated as a State Recreational River Area. As the Ramapo Mountain Range presents an unavoidable obstacle to radio signal propagation, the placement of the communication tower within the regulated recreation area is the only available location that will provide complete radio coverage for Thruway Authority and emergency personnel for this section of the Thruway.

Project Description:

The applicant is proposing to disturb approximately 250 feet of the bed and banks of the Neversink River [NYS Water Index #: D-1, Class B(T)] in association with a bank stabilization project. The proposed disturbances to the bed and bank are the following: grading of the bank to a 3':1' slope; installation of root wads, rock, and brush layering at the toe of the bank; and the planting of willow fascine bundles and live stakes within the newly graded bank. Additionally, native plantings will be used to further stabilize 100 feet of riparian buffer from the top of the bank. The project is located on Claryville Road, approximately 1,500 feet north of the Hunter Road bridge.
