Proposed Amendment to Wetland Maps

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 24 (Freshwater Wetlands Act) of the NYS ECL and 6 NYCRR Part 664 that New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) proposes to amend portions of Erie County Freshwater Wetland Map 16 of 31. The wetland amendments are located in the Town of Evans. The wetland amendments consist of additions of 2 unmapped wetlands and revisions to the boundary of 1 wetland. Maps showing the proposed revision are available at the clerk's office in the town and county where the change is taking place, as well as at the NYS DEC - Region 9 Office, Allegany, NY. Written comments on the accuracy of the proposed changes to the maps may be mailed to the person listed below through November 13, 2015. No activity subject to regulation under the Freshwater Wetlands Act may be initiated without a permit from NYS DEC within the area that is the subject of the proposal including the 100 foot wetland adjacent area.

Negative Declaration

Niagara County - The Board of Education of the North Tonawanda City School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed North Tonawanda City School District - 2015 Capital Improvement Plan will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the rehabilitation and construction at many of the District's school campuses in the City of Tonawanda, Niagara County. The improvements and renovations proposed in the 2015 Capital Improvement Project are summarized as follows:

  • Athletic field reconfigurations and improvements, including construction of new stadium and artificial turf fields at the high school;
  • Building additions, including a new gymnasium at the new middle school, and small (5,000 square feet) additions at two elementary schools;
  • Bus loop, drop-off and parking improvements;
  • Replacement of the Transportation Building;
  • Interior repair, renovations, classroom reorganizations, and improvements;
  • District-wide grade level and building reorganizations.

The project is located at the North Tonawanda High School, 405 Meadow Avenue; the Meadow Elementary School, 455 Meadow Avenue; the North Tonawanda Middle School, 1500 Vanderbilt Avenue; the Ohio Elementary School, 625 Ohio Street; the Spruce Elementary School, 195 Spruce Street and the Transportation Building - Ridge Road behind the High School in the City of North Tonawanda, New York.
