Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - Suffolk County, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed 406 Oakwood Road Tree Clearing and Grading will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the removal of 17 trees; and the removal of approximately 0.06 acres of native oak woodlands. No grading is proposed. The proposed action will result in an increase in the loss of the onsite natural woodlands from 32-37% to 42% of the 1.22 acre residential lot. Less than half of the removals will occur on areas with slopes 20% or greater. Over 30% of the lot maintains slopes of 20% or greater and, as per Village of Port Jefferson Environmental Quality Review Section 129-2B(12), this results in the action being classified as a Type 1 action. The proposed action has incorporated erosion control measures and revegetation plans including native and non-invasive plantings to mitigate erosion control concerns. Site visits in May and August 2015 by D. Harrington did not reveal any rare, endangered, threatened or special concern plant species although site is noted as New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's (NYS DEC) Environmental Mapper for such. The project is located at 406 Oakwood Road in the Village of Port Jefferson, New York.
