Permit(s) Applied for:

Article 27 Title 7 Solid Waste Management

Project is Located:

Huntington, Suffolk County

Project Description:

The applicant seeks to renew an existing permit to construct and operate a 121 acre expansion to their existing clean fill disposal facility, which is situated on a 286 acre parcel. That permit was originally issued June 29, 2005. The applicant also requests a modification of that permit to be issued concurrently with the above-noted renewal. The modification includes a reduction in the size of the previously permitted six phases, to allow for nine smaller phases. The nine phases would cover the same area permitted in the original permit. Also requested is a revised lower baseliner elevation to allow for optimization of the disposal site's capacity. The required baseliner will maintain a minimum 5 foot separation between the baseliner and groundwater as required by regulation and the previous permit. The final permitted height of the landfill and daily acceptance rate of 6,000 tons per day will remain unchanged from the permit issued in 2005.

The proposed project is located at 136, Bethpage/Spagnoli Road, Melville, Town of Huntington, Suffolk County, 300' north of Spagnoli Road, 1500' west of Broadhollow Road (Route 110), 3500' south of the Long Island Expressway.
