Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYS OPRHP), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Hither Hills State Park Upper Campground Expansion will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of additional campground facilities at Hither Hills State Park. The project will be located in an existing overflow parking and picnicking area and will include 23 new tent campsites, a new paved asphalt loop road, a new 25 space parking area, and a small 600 square foot comfort station. The sloped site will be graded to create level campsites. Approximately 5,000 square foot of vegetation will be cleared along the edges of the new campgrounds as part of the necessary grading. The addition of the new comfort station will require a new septic system and extension of water distribution system. The new water lines will be installed beneath the new roadway. The Hither Hills State Park is located on Old Montauk Highway in the Town of East Hampton, New York.
