Negative Declaration

Schoharie County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Schoharie RA #11, Lutheranville State Forest Timber Harvest will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the removal of two stands of plantation Norway spruce that have reached their biological and economic maturity. The mature overstory will be removed to allow for desirable hardwood regeneration. Protection of the stream will be achieved by buffers of 100 feet. Failure to remove these two stands will result in mortality in the near future. As the health of these trees decline, they will create a significant hazard. Schoharie RA #11 is located at the southeast corner of Lutheranville State Forest, Stands 18 and 37 on the north side of Mud Lake Road in the Town of Summit, New York.
