Negative Declaration

Sullivan County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Echo Lake Dredging Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the dredging 52 acres of Echo Lake (Water Index# D-10-5-5-P78, Class B), removing 50,000 to 90,000 cubic yards of sediment and disturbing 13 acres of upland for sediment deposit ion. The lake will be drawn down through the existing sluiceway in the summer/early autumn of 2015, maintaining a retention pool with supplementary siphons. Dredging will occur in autumn/early winter 2015/2016 after bottom sediments are dry. The lake will be refilled in spring 2016. No dredging will occur within 25 feet of the dam. The project is located at 195 Baer Road in Forestburgh, New York.
