Tree Removal for Facility Development on Kaaterskill Wild Forest

The action involves the removal of 106 trees to facilitate construction of an observation platform, ADA compliant trail and observation point and a bridge across Spruce Creek at Kaaterskill Wild Forest. This construction project is included in the approved Unit Management Plan for the Kaaterskill Wild Forest and the 2013 Unit Management Plan Amendment. Tree cutting will be in compliance with LF Policy 91-2 on Cutting, Removal or Destruction of Trees and Other Vegetation on Forest Preserve Lands. The project is located in the Town of Hunter, Greene County, New York.

Positive Declaration

Schoharie County - The Town of Richmondville Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Judith Mills Site Plan (Salvage/Junkyard Permit) may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves a proposed two (2) phased project where Phase I will consist of a recycling and salvage area with small retail and Phase 2 will consist of an animal rescue facility. The proposed project will include multiple buildings, parking lots, and accessory structures totaling 6,000 square foot of building space. It is proposed to be located in a commercial zoning district on a sixteen (16) acre parcel. The area is currently a mix of commercial, residential, or vacant parcels. The total area of land to be disturbed is two (2) acres. No sewer is available on the parcel, but municipal water is. The parcel is visible by two (2) State highways. There is a Class C stream that runs through the parcel and flows into the Cobleskill Creek (Class C). The project is located at 1606 State Route 7 in the Town of Richmondville, New York.
