Negative Declaration

Otsego County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Hawes Gravel Pit will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposal by the applicant to renew and modify a previously permitted 13 acre surface unconsolidated sand and gravel life-of-mine. The permit modification is for the expansion of the previously permitted affected area from 5 acres to 5.8 acres, the importation of clean, well-composted bovine manure and a revised Reclamation Plan. The final reclamation contours for the mine floor depth will be lowered by 10 feet. There is existing on-site screening. The project is located at 211 County Route 18C in Edmeston, New York.
