Negative Declaration

Washington County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Jointa Galusha, LLC Goodwell Quarry will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the mining of consolidated stone (granite gneiss) on 55 acres of a 288 acre site. A 4,300 foot long access road from the new mine to U.S. Route 4 will involve an additional seven (7) acres of disturbance, resulting in a total affected area of 62 acres. Mining is proposed below the local water table. Material processing will occur within the quarry, as well as occasional blasting. About 226 acres of forest and field around the mine site will remain undisturbed. The reclamation objective is grassland and a pond. The project is located west of U.S. Route 4, opposite NY Route 22 in the Town of Fort Ann, New York.
