Project Description:

Proposed is the renewal of an existing regulated medical waste transfer permit for Stericyle, Inc. The facility is authorized to manage an average throughput of 48 tons per day, calculated weekly, not to exceed 96 tons, of regulated medical waste, maximum, on any single day. The facility may operate seven days per week, 24 hours per day. Stericyle, Inc. has withdrawn its request to collect, consolidate and store conditionally exempt hazardous waste at the facility and store conditionally exempt hazardous waste on trucks in the yard at the facility. The proposed permitted activity would allow for the delivery, unloading and reloading of regulated medical waste packaged in sealed cardboard boxes or reusable containers (up to a capacity of 200 gallons). Transfer of regulated medical waste can only occur within the existing building and by trained facility personnel.

The proposed activity is not subject to review in accordance with SHPA. The permit type is exempt or the activity is being reviewed in accordance with federal historic preservation regulations.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
