Notice of Acceptance of Final GEIS

Essex, Warren and Washington Counties - The Lake George Park Commission (LPGC), as lead agency, has accepted a Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Lake George Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Plan. The Final EIS is available from the contact person listed below and on line at: www.lgpc.state.ny.us.

The action involves a plan to help prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species into the waters of Lake George through the mandatory inspection, prior to launch, of all trailered vessels entering the waters of Lake George. Boats will be inspected to determine if they meet the standard of "cleaned, drained and dry (C-D-D)" prior to launch. Boats that do not meet the C-D-D standard will be subject to decontamination through a high pressured hot water process at the inspection site prior to launching in Lake George. Boats leaving Lake George will be required to meet the standard of "cleaned, drained" prior to exiting the launch site so as to reduce the, spread of aquatic invasive species into other water bodies. The Final GEIS describes the program in detail. The location of the program will be the Lake George Basin in Warren, Washington, and Essex Counties, New York.

Contact: David Wick, Lake George Park Commission, 75 Fort Orange Road, P.O.Box 75, Lake George, NY 12845 Phone: (518) 668-9347.
