Project Description:

The applicant proposes to reconstruct an existing bulkhead in place and 18 inches higher in elevation, install two returns, dredge no further than 10 feet seaward of the bulkhead to a depth of 4 feet below mean low water and place 10 cubic yards of dredge material behind the bulkhead as backfill. The applicant also proposes to eliminate an existing boat slip by constructing 16 feet of new bulkhead across the mouth of the slip and placing 15 cubic yards dredge material and 40 cubic yards clean fill landward of the new bulkhead as backfill. Placement of fill material within the boat slip will result in the loss of approximately 272 square feet of tidal wetlands known as littoral zone (LZ). The applicant also proposes to construct a 4 foot by 59 foot boardwalk. The project is located at 2617 Ocean Ave, Seaford, Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, NCTM# Section 63, Block 42, Lots 273 - 275.
