Project Description:

The applicant proposes to raise the height of 113 feet of existing bulkhead one foot by installing two rows of wales, reconstruct a 14 foot section of bulkhead in-place and one foot higher in elevation, remove a damaged return and replace with 57 feet of new bulkhead, and place 250 cubic yards of fill landward of the bulkhead. Placement of fill behind the new section of bulkhead which will be located seaward of apparent high water will result in the loss of approximately 450 square feet of tidal wetlands known as littoral zone (LZ). The project is located at 890 East Bay 9th Street, West Islip, Town of Islip, Suffolk County, SCTM# 0500-483-1-76.001.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to stabilize the shoreline by installing a row of coir logs along the line of low water, placing 24 cubic yards of fill landward of the logs within eroded escarpment areas and regrading to a natural slope. Placement of fill behind the logs, which will be located seaward of high water will result in the loss of approximately 550 square feet of tidal wetlands known as littoral zone (SM/LZ). The applicant also proposes to remove invasive species and replant with native wetland and upland plant species. The project is located at 21 Sandpiper Court, Westhampton, Town of Southampton, SCTM# 0900-382-1-57.
