The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has received a Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) application from Fifth & Candlewood LLC; Floramar, Inc.; Florence Sobel; and South Shore Outdoor Store, Inc. for a site known as the South Shore Outdoor, site ID #C152228. This site is located in the City of Islip, within the County of Suffolk, and is located at 1760 Fifth Avenue. Comments regarding this application must be submitted no later than December 6, 2013. Positive Declaration and Public Scoping

Suffolk County - The Dormitory Authority State of New York (DASNY), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed North Shore - Long Island Jewish Health System Southside Hospital Campus Master Development Plan may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. A public scoping session will be held on November 18, 2013 6:00 p.m. at the Southside Hospital Board Room, Southside Hospital, 301 East Main Street, Bay Shore, NY 11706. The action involves DASNY's authorization of the expenditure of tax-exempt bond proceeds to be used to finance the construction of portions of the following: a new emergency department of approximately 8,000 gross square feet, and renovation of the existing emergency department and Brackett buildings; a shipping/receiving building addition of approximately 11,000 square feet; three new clinical buildings totaling approximately 450,000 gross square feet; two new multi-level parking garages with a total capacity of up to 1,675 spaces; and miscellaneous building renovations, demolitions and site improvements, infrastructure upgrades; site access, on-site circulation, and surface parking improvements; and landscaping improvements. The project is located on the campus of Southside Hospital, 301 East Main Street in Bay Shore, Town of Islip, New York.
