Project Description:

The applicant proposes closing off and filling an existing boatslip. A new bulkhead will be installed across the seaward face of the boatslip and the boatslip will be backfilled with 60 cubic yards of clean fill. Also proposed is additional minor bulkhead work and installation of a platform, ramp and float. A 10' x 30' area in the vicinity of the proposed dockage will be dredged to 4' below mean low water. The project is located at 46 Alhambra Road, Massapequa, Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve the application for a permit modification for a new discharge of 50 gallons per day average to 24,000 gallons per day maximum of stormwater from the PBS secondary containment and loading rack areas to groundwater at the applicant's facility located at Petro Inc. 125 Meadow Road West, Kings Park, NY. The permit includes a limit for flow, sampling for Oil and Grease, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Suspended Solids, Benzene, Toluene, Xylene, Ethylbenzene, Chrysene, Flourene, Naphthalene and Pyrene. Refer to this application by the application number 1-4734-02373/00001 and SPDES number NY0279722. The proposed discharge is located within an area designated as a sole source aquifer. The following water purveyors have been identified as having service areas located within a 3-mile radius of the applicant's facility: Smithtown Water District and Suffolk County Water Authority.
