ENB - Region 9 Notices 9/18/2013

Negative Declaration

Erie County - The Sweet Home Central School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed 2013 Capital Improvements Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the proposed 2013 Capital Improvements Project which consists of various site work and reconstruction, renovation and building upgrade work to address needs identified in the 2010 Building Conditions Survey required by the State Education Department and other site work needs.

Proposed site work upgrades include reconstruction/reconfiguration/addition of roadways, parking and parent/bus drop-off areas, sidewalks and steps at multiple school sites to improve circulation, safety and drainage. At the High School, the core project proposition would include reconstruction of athletic fields with drainage and irrigation improvements, removal and reconstruction of the existing tennis courts, and improvements to the existing stadium field, bleachers, press box and field event areas. An alternate proposition would include the same reconstruction of tennis courts, a new multi-sport synthetic turf stadium and some drainage and irrigation improvements with a reduction in the extent of reconstruction of the athletic fields and elimination of the existing stadium field work.

Proposed building upgrade items include reconstruction of roofs at the High School and some elementary schools, new windows at portions of the High School, Glendale and Heritage Heights Elementary Schools, secure entrances at all schools, new fire alarm systems at the Elementary Schools, and upgrading clocks and gymnasium floors and masonry restoration at multiple schools. Other items include plumbing/sewer, water main, pool heat exchanger and piping upgrades, new rooftop ventilation units, repairs to chimney and new cap, new emergency/exit lighting, electrical service/switchgear, a utility transformer and data infrastructure upgrades.
