Proposed Establishment of Emission Reduction Credits

Project Location: Catskill, Greene County

Project Description: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has reviewed an application dated October 9, 2012, for Emission Reduction Credits (ERCs) for the closing of the Holcim (US) Inc. facility at 6446 US Route 9W, Catskill NY. Based on this review, NYS DEC is prepared to approve nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOC's) ERCs as follows:

NOx 1,789 tons
VOC's 20 tons

The values above are as requested in the application. The emission reductions are based specifically on the closing of the cement kiln (Unit 1-00K18). The facility surrendered its air permit to operate the entire facility in February 2012.

Availability for Public Comment: Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the contact person listed below no later than September 20, 2013, or 30 days after the publication date of this notice, whichever is later.

Shandaken SPDES Semi-Annual Meeting

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) is pleased to announce that the next semi-annual public meeting, held per the Shandaken SPDES permit, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at the Schoharie Watershed Office, 6049 Main Street, Tannersville NY. NYC DEP will discuss the progress of activities conducted pursuant to the SPDES permit.

The meeting is open to the public and public input is welcome.
