Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve an application for modification of an existing State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit to discharge treated wastewater into Sixmile Creek, from the City of Ithaca Water Treatment Plant located at Water Street and Giles Street in the City of Ithaca, Tompkins County. The modification proposes to change the wastewater treatment process by replacing two existing sludge lagoons located south of Giles Street, with two sludge thickening tanks and two volute presses. Water decanted from the top of the thickeners is proposed to be discharged to Sixmile Creek via the existing outfall structure.
