Project Description:

The applicant proposes to excavate approximately 800,000 cubic yards of unconsolidated sand and gravel from 14.9 acres of a 48.6 acre parcel. Construction and demolition material will be stockpiled at the center of the site as an operation separate from the mining activity. Previously this Department issued a permit to LaFarge North America to mine areas adjacent to this site. Reclamation will be concurrent with the mining operations and will create open space and wildlife habitat using stripped overburden, topsoil and a select seeding mixture. The site is located approximately 0.3 mile east of the intersection of Peppermint and Pavement Roads.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Project Description:

The Department has received an application for the rehabilitation of Stony Road from Genesee Street to Walden Avenue and portions of Pleasant View Drive to the east and west of Stony Road in the Town of Lancaster. Two ditches along the west side of Stony Road will be re-established to improve drainage and minimize flooding, an existing headwall will be replaced and existing ditches on the east side of Stony Road will be cleaned to improve drainage. No road widening or realignment is proposed as part of this project. A portion of this work is proposed within New York State regulated freshwater wetlands LA-14 and LA-15 and/or their regulated 100 foot adjacent areas. Standard erosion and sediment controls will be utilized to maintain the water quality of the wetlands. The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application and is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.

Project Description:

The Department has prepared a draft permit and has made a tentative determination to approve a new permit term for the occasional application of pesticides by the Erie County Health Department to control vector species of mosquitoes in New York State Regulated Wetlands in the Towns of Alden, Amherst, Aurora, Boston, Brant, Cheektowaga, Clarence, Colden, Collins, Concord, Eden, Elma, Evans, Grand Island, Hamburg, Holland, Lancaster, Marilla, Newstead, North Collins, Orchard Park, Sardinia, Tonawanda, Wales and West Seneca; the Cities of Buffalo, Lackawanna and Tonawanda; and the Villages of Akron, Alden, Blasdell, East Aurora and Springville. The pesticides proposed to be applied contain the following active ingredients: Methoprene, Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis, Bacillus sphaericus, and Isostearyl alcohol. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. As such, this tentative determination does not signify Department approval for or endorsement of an activity for which a permit is sought.
