Project Description:

Fulmont Ready Mix Company requests a permit modification to continue mining sand and gravel from their existing sand bank on Maple Avenue Ext. The proposed permit modification seeks to combine the applicant's current Life of Mine ("LOM") with that of an adjacent mine site located on Ferndale Cemetery property. The proposed expansion would add an additional +/- 29.6 acres to the applicant's current LOM, for a total LOM of +/- 90.6 acres, and create one contiguous mine site. There will be no mining below the local water table with the exception of the existing retention basins. The proposed reclamation objective is open grassland and pond.

Availability of Application Documents:

Filed application documents, and Department draft permits where applicable, are available for inspection during normal business hours at the address of the contact person. To ensure timely service at the time of inspection, it is recommended that an appointment be made with the contact person.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is a Type I action and will not have a significant effect on the environment. A coordinated review with other agencies was performed and a Negative Declaration is on file.

SEQR Lead Agency: NYS Department of Environmental Conservation

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Aug 09, 2013.

Project Description:

R & R Farms, LLC requests a Mined Land Reclamation permit for a new +/- 62.4 acre sand and gravel mine on Maloney Road, approximately 0.4 miles south of the intersection with State Route 29. The proposed mine will operate as a traditional surface opening extraction with material removed by means of mechanical excavating and processing by screening. No material washing or mining below the water table is proposed for this site.
