Project Description:

Applicant proposes a new 19.3 acre bluestone life of mine on a 979 acre parcel owned by Dewey Decker. The site is located on the south side of Schoolhouse Road approximately 1 mile west of Route 41. Typical excavation, including blasting, with on-site material processing is proposed. Reclamation will include replacement of topsoil with seeding to revegetate for wildlife and recreational use. Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Project Description:

The DEC is proposing to issue an Air State Facility Permit to Borg Warner Morse Tec, Inc. for its facility in Ithaca, NY. The facility was previously issued a Title V permit but has chosen to limit emissions to less than the major source thresholds.

Borg-Warner manufactures automotive timing chains, which are made of metal pins and links. Much of Borg-Warner's process involves high-temperature heating and subsequent cooling of metal pieces to impart physical characteristics to the metal. The process involves the heating of metal links and pins in a reducing atmosphere, quenching, washing, and reheating in temper draws. The facility also operates a 1200 hp engine test facility.
