Moffit Beach State Campground Shower Building Construction

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) proposes a project to remove two toilet buildings in the "Brooklyn" and "Siberia" loops of the Moffitt Beach State Campground and to construct new shower buildings at each location. A dual trailer dumping station is being constructed near the existing lower parking area and a new water supply well is being drilled. It is necessary to remove 146 trees for the construction of these showers and to provide universal access into these facilities. Construction will begin on 9/9/13. Tree cutting will be in compliance with the NYS DEC policy on removal or destruction of trees and other vegetation on Forest Preserve lands. The project is located in the Town of Lake Pleasant, New York.

Project Description: The action involves a three lot subdivision involving wetlands of the Moderate Intensity Use portion of tax lot 218-1-14.100, with shoreline on Mountainview Lake. A 3.0 ± acre lot will be conveyed for development with a new single family dwelling, a 2.5 ± acre vacant lot will be created with no immediate development plans, and a third lot will result, consisting of the remaining land of the applicant (including Rural Use and Resource Management lands) in this tax parcel, containing an existing dwelling. The second and third lots will be retained by the current owners.
