Project Description:

The applicant proposes to eliminate an existing boat slip by constructing 17 feet of new bulkhead across the mouth of the slip and placing 200 cubic yards fill material landward of the new bulkhead as backfill. Placement of fill material within the boat slip will result in the loss of approximately 561 square feet of tidal wetlands known as littoral zone (LZ). The applicant also proposes to remove an existing boardwalk, reface 105 feet of bulkhead at one foot higher elevation, place fill landward of the bulkhead and construct a 5 foot wide capping boardwalk. The proposal also includes a 5 foot by 48 foot fixed pier, mooring piles, boat lift, ramp and kayak float. The project is located at 301 Great River Road, Town of Islip, Suffolk County, SCTM# 0500-401-4-10.
