ENB - Region 4 Notices 6/12/2013
Greene County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Adoption of the Amended Kaaterskill Wild Forest Unit Management Plan will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposed amendment to formally designate 0.6 miles of abandoned rail bed within the Kaaterskill Wild Forest as a multiple-use trail. Also proposed is the formal adoption of an additional 0.4 miles of multiple-use trail on an abandoned Town road and existing informal trail, and the construction of a new bridge over Spruce Creek to connect the new trails to an existing trail system. In all, one mile of newly designated trails in Kaaterskill Wild Forest are proposed for multiple-use, open to non-motorized recreation such as hiking, running, bicycling, snow-shoeing, and cross-country skiing. The Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation approved and signed the Kaaterskill Wild Forest Unit Management Plan Amendment on May 28, 2013. The project is located in the Kaaterskill Wild Forest, Town of Hunter, New York.
