Project Description:

The applicant is proposing to mine sand and gravel from 3.5 acres of a 42.4 acre property. Mining has occurred at this location in the past with a total area affected of less than 0.1 acre to date. The proposed mining activity will be conducted at a level of intensity that will exceed the specific threshold (more than 1,000 tons per year) requiring a permit. Mining will be conducted in 1 phase with the duration of the project totaling approximately 3 years. A tracked excavator will be used to extract sand and gravel. The excavated material will be processed on-site by a power screen and transported to various locations depending on market demand. The reclamation objective is to create an excavated pond with a surface area of approximately 2 acres and surrounding vegetated slopes.
