ENB - Region 6 Notices 3/6/2013

Negative Declaration

Herkimer and Oneida Counties - The Mohawk Valley Water Authority (MVWA), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Water Supply Permit will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves obtaining a single water supply permit to streamline the main extension approval process in the areas of the Towns of Frankfort, Schuyler, Kirkland and Westmoreland not currently supplied by a municipal water supply system.

Currently each town is required to submit an individual Water Supply Application (WSA) to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) to obtain permission to expand into a new area.

To relieve this administrative task from the towns and the NYS DEC, the MVWA will obtain a single permit from the NYS DEC to serve all areas within the towns. The MVWA will not seek to serve any area which has an existing community water supply system.

The project is located in the Towns of Frankfort and Schuyler in Herkimer County and Kirkland and Westmoreland in Oneida County, New York.
