Project Description:

The Department has received applications to take a supply of water for use in the existing system by the installation of two new wells known as the Village Park well and the Ballpark well having capacities of 600 gallons per minute and 550 gallons per minute, respectively, to replace the existing well and spring sources which are no longer adequate. The Village of Canaseraga water system serves a population of approximately 560 through 248 connections. The calculated projected maximum daily demand is 173,000 gallons per day. The proposed project also includes replacing approximately 7,800 linear feet of water main and related appurtenances, as well as replacing the existing storage tank with a new 400,000 gallon steel tank.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve these applications and is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has prepared a draft permit and has made a tentative determination to issue a renewal to State Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (SPDES) permit (NY#0000337) for the surface discharge of treated wastewater to the Niagara River, a class A water.

The FMC Corporation - Peroxygens Division facility manufactures ammonia, potassium, sodium persulfacts and peracetic acid. Treatment at the facility consists of collection and neutralization of process wastewaters. The facility also discharges non-contact cooling water and stormwater.

DEC proposes to incorporate the following modifications to this permit: -Permit pages and conditions have been updated, renumbered and reordered, and reflect current permit language, DEC guidance, format and nomenclature. -The Mercury Minimization Program has been updated.

Project Description:

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is pursuing a Department Initiated Modification to State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Permit (NY0030651) pursuant to 6NYCRR Part 750-1.18 and 750-1.19 the Priority Ranking System known as New York State Environment Benefit Permit Strategy (EBPS).

The facility discharges 0.278 million gallons per day (30 day mean) of treated sanitary waste water into Lake Ontario, a class A waterbody. The proposed modifications to this permit include updated permit pages and an updated monitoring location page with a new flow diagram. No changes to any of the permit limits as a result of the EBPS are proposed. The facility is located at 8500 Lower Lake Road in the Town of Somerset. The Department is seeking comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. As such, this tentative determination does not signify Department approval for or endorsement of the activity for which a permit is sought. A draft permit is available for review.
