Negative Declaration

Erie County - The Alden Central School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Capital Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposed Capital Project consisting of various reconstruction, renovation, and building upgrade work at the Village campus, a building addition and reconstruction of existing space at the Middle School (currently grade 4-8) to accommodate the transfer of students from the Primary School (Grades K-3) on Broadway to the Village campus, and athletic facility, bus garage, maintenance building and other site improvements.

Proposed improvements include a new Kindergarten wing (including an 8,850 ± square foot addition to the Middle School), renovations of existing spaces including new entries to the Middle School and High School, and renovations of classrooms, resource and therapy rooms, cafeteria/kitchens, offices, and locker/team rooms at various campus buildings. Building system upgrades include HVAC (e.g., furnace, steam heat system, air handling units, ductwork, pool air handler equipment, rebuild co-gens, convert pneumatic systems to DDC), plumbing (e.g., water meter, heaters, distribution system, backflow prevention, sanitary drainage, floor drains, pool filters), electrical (e.g., panels, lighting), roofs (including insulation/skylights), lockers, flooring, ceilings, stairs/ramp, sound booth, exit signs, and emergency lighting.

Athletic facility and site improvements include installation of a synthetic turf field inside the existing track to replace the existing grass athletic field, track and field area lighting, synthetic track and field event areas, reconfigured and new paved areas including an improved bus loop connecting through the campus to the bus garage, driveways, parking areas, and sidewalks, playgrounds and landscaping, and improved site drainage.

The project is located throughout the Alden Central School District in Alden, New York.
