ENB - Region 5 Notices 12/19/2012

Negative Declaration

Washington County - The New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed US Route 4 at NYS Route 149 Intersection Improvement Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the improvement of the intersection of US Route 4 and NYS Route 149 in the Village of Fort Ann. The project will improve the radii on both the northwest and the southwest quadrants of the intersection to highway standards for truck movement. The intersection radii will be accomplished by box-out widening with new full depth pavement. The remaining pavement surface would be improved by milling and resurfacing. All curb and side walk will be replaced. Isolated drainage basins will be replaced and tied into the existing closed drainage system on the Clay Hill Road leg. The selected alternative addresses all of these objectives and is expected to improve safety. To allow for improvement of the curb radius at the northwest corner of the intersection in order to accommodate southbound trucks on US Route 4 turning right onto NYS Route 149, the property at 69 George Street must be acquired. The project is located at US Route 4 and NYS Route 149 in the Village of Fort Ann, New York.
