The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has received a Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) application from Camillus Mills, LLC for a site known as the Former Camillus Cutlery Company Site, site ID #C734142. This site is located in the Village of Camillus, within the County of Onondaga, and is located at 52 and 54 Genesee Street, Camillus, NY 13031. Comments regarding this application must be submitted no later than January 11, 2013. Chenango County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Sylstra Pit - Preston Stone LLC will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposal by the applicant for a new 39.5 acre life of mine on a 200 acre parcel owned by Frances Sylstra. Shale, bluestone and sandstone will be mined with an excavator and bulldozer, screened and crushed, and trucked off site. The existing agricultural and forested lands will be reclaimed to similar productive habitats when mining is completed. No blasting is proposed. Application, plans and report are available for review in the NYS DEC - Region 7 Cortland Sub Office. The project is located on the west side of Turner Street, approximately one mile north of NYS Route 12 in the Town of Preston, New York.
