Notice of Acceptance of Draft GEIS and Public Hearing

Orange County - The Village of Walden, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Draft 2012 Comprehensive Plan for the Village of Walden. A public hearing on the Draft GEIS and the Draft 2012 Comprehensive Plan will be held on December 11, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Village of Walden Village Hall, One Municipal Square, Walden, NY 12586. Written comments on the Draft EIS and the Draft 2012 Comprehensive Plan will be accepted until December 21, 2012. The Draft GEIS and the Comprehensive Plan are available for public viewing at the Josephine Louise Library, Village of Walden Village Hall and on the Village of Walden website at: www.villageofwalden.org.

The action involves the adoption by the Village of Walden of a new Comprehensive Plan for the Village. The Village's last Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2005. The 2005 Plan recommended periodic updating of the Comprehensive Plan to incorporate results of subsequent plans and studies and to reflect any unanticipated events or new issues. This 2012 update of the Village of Walden Comprehensive Plan is not a new departure. Rather it incorporates and builds upon goals, recommendations and policies set forth in the 2005 Plan. Therefore, it should not be viewed as a change of direction but, rather, as a refinement of a course already established. The project is located Village wide in the Village of Walden, New York.
