Project is Located:

Project Description:

The applicant proposes a new 16.31-acre life of mine sand and gravel mine (surface unconsolidated material) on a 62-acre parcel of land owned by the permittee. Mining has occurred at this site previously. A maximum of 7.3 acres will be open or disturbed at any one time. Reclamation will be concurrent with mining. The estimated life of mine is 15 years. The maximum depth of the excavation will be 14 feet with 1V:3H slopes. All mining will remain a minimum of 5' above groundwater table. No on-site processing equipment (i.e. crushing/screening) is proposed. Mining will use front end loader, track backhoe/excavator and dump trucks. The proposed hours of operation are Mon-Fri 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, no weekends or holidays. The stormwater will be internally draining in the excavated areas. A SPDES Multi-Sector General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity (GP-0-06-002) has been applied for. The site will be reclaimed to native grass plantings, suitable for residential development or revert back to a forested area. The mine is located in the Town of Mooers northwesterly of the Hamlet of Mooers Forks.
