Public Notice

Construction of a snowmobile trail from the old Uncas Road to Sagamore Road.

Lead Agency: New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC)

Location: Moose River Plains Wild Forest in the Towns of Inlet and Long Lake, Hamilton County, New York.

Project Description: Construction of approximately 4.9 miles of snowmobile trail from the old Uncas Road to the Sagamore Road. This project was approved (Alternative 11, p. 119) in the Moose River Plains Wild Forest UMP/GEIS January 2011. This project will be constructed in accordance with the NYS DEC's "Snowmobile Trail Siting, Construction and Maintenance on Forest Preserve Lands in the Adirondack Park" and includes removal of 762 trees. Any tree cutting will be in compliance with NYS DEC - Lands and Forest Policy # 91-2 on Cutting, Removal or Destruction of Trees and Other Vegetation on Forest Preserve lands.
