Project Description:

The applicant proposes to maintain the existing marina by dredging irregular shaped areas within the south marina basin and throughout the northern dock area to a depth of 6 feet below mean low water and use a portion of the resultant 5,180 cubic yards of material as backfill at the marina. Any excess material will be trucked to an approved upland location. The sediment to be dredged and sediment that will be exposed due to the dredging were sampled and tested for contaminants and the results were submitted to DEC for review. Remove the existing 10 foot by 300 foot solid fill pier and replace with 10 feet by 364 feet of floating docks. Remove and replace in-place 3,457 feet of bulkhead and the associated decking, lighting, water and electric. Remove and replace in-place two existing concrete boat ramps and 286 mooring piles, and install 12 new mooring piles. The project is located at the East Islip Marina, southern terminus of Bayview Avenue, East Islip, Islip Town, Suffolk County.
