Project Description:

The applicant proposes to remove and replace 300 linear feet of existing functional bulkhead in-place and to backfill with 200 cu. ft. of clean fill from an upland source. The purpose of the proposed project is to stabilize the eastern shoreline of the Hog Creek Inlet. The proposed project is located in a Coastal Erosion Hazard Area and in NYSDEC regulated Tidal Wetlands at 352 Kings Point Road in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, SCTM# 300-23-03-01.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to apply the aquatic herbicide AquaPro (glyphosate) to remove the Common Reed (Phragmities australis) from a 5 acre cranberry bog. The herbicide is proposed to be applied selectively to Phragmites stems after they have been cut in order to remove this species while ensuring the survival and further reproduction of the native plant species in this area. The herbicide is proposed of be applied to the cut stems by wiping using a short wand attached to a backpack sprayer. Post-treatment monitoring is also proposed to assess Phragmites density and height each year. The proposed project is located in a cranberry bog at Hither Hills State Park within the Walking Dunes on the north side of the park. The park is located in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, SCTM# 300-086-02-01.
