Project Description:

The applicant proposes to stabilize and restore a shoreline along the Great South Bay by placing 215 cu. yds of boulders and 1,700 cu. yds. of clean sand and planting the filled areas with American Beach Grass. The purpose of the project is to protect the structural integrity of the public boardwalk which runs along this shoreline; due to the proximity of the boardwalk to the shoreline, approximately 390 cu. yds. of sand is proposed to be placed seaward of the apparent high water line in NYSDEC regulated tidal wetlands. The proposed project is located on Fire Island along the Great South Bay shoreline from Cedar Walk east to Fifth Walk in Fair Harbor, Town of Islip in Suffolk County, SCTM# 500-493-1, 20& 3.
