Shandaken SPDES Semi-Annual Meeting
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) is pleased to announce that the next semi-annual public meeting, held per the Shandaken SPDES permit, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at the Windham Town Hall, 371 Route 296, Hensonville NY 12439. NYC DEP and its partners will discuss the progress of several projects in the Schoharie Reservoir watershed followed by a field visit to a nearby stream restoration project.
The meeting is open to the public and public input is welcome.

Dutchess County - The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYS OPRHP), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed James Baird State Park Golf Course Irrigation Improvements will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the replacement and upgrade of the park's golf course irrigation system. The existing system is failing and does not meet the needs of the course. The new system will involve installation of all new water lines, sprinkler heads, electric lines and related operational equipment. It will also include the construction of a new 2 acre irrigation storage pond. The material excavated to create the pond will be used to create landscaping berms along the boundary of the golf course and, if suitable, enhance wildlife habitat elsewhere in the park. The project is located at the James Baird State Park between the Taconic State Parkway and Freedom Road in the Town of LaGrange, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing
Westchester County - The City of White Plains Common Council, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed French-American School of New York (FASNY). A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on September 19, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the City of White Plains Common Council Chambers, 255 Main Street, 2nd Floor, White Plains, New York. Written comments will be accepted until October 29, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the office of the City Clerk, 255 Main Street, White Plains, NY 10601. The Draft EIS is available from the City of White Plains City Clerk, City of White Plains Planning Department, City of White Plains Public Library and on line at: www.cityofwhiteplains.com.
The action involves a proposal by the applicant, FASNY, for the development of a pre-K through High School campus, consisting of several buildings with a maximum student capacity of 1,200 students, and an 84 acre Conservancy. All traffic would enter and exit the site from Ridgeway Avenue. The application proposes 230,863 square feet of building area and 428 parking spaces. In addition, the school proposes four soccer fields, four tennis courts, one basketball court, one stand alone baseball/softball field, and one baseball field integrated into one of the soccer fields, a track around one of the soccer fields, and three playgrounds.
The 129 acre project site (the former Ridgeway Country Club) is an environmentally sensitive site and includes a pond, streams, limited steep slope areas, and over 24 acres of New York State Freshwater Wetlands (Wetland Identification Code No. G-7 on the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Freshwater Map, Westchester County Map No. 11 of 14, Wetland Classification Type II). The property is located in the drainage area of the Mamaroneck River watershed.
The project is located at 400 Ridgeway Avenue in the City of White Plains, New York.
