ENB - Region 4 Notices 8/8/2012
Negative Declaration
Montgomery County - The New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Pedestrian Bridge over the New York State Canal / Mohawk River will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a new pedestrian bridge and approaches over the NYS Canal/Mohawk River in the City of Amsterdam.
A Draft Design Report / Draft Environmental Assessment (DDRIDEA) was prepared and circulated for review and comment in November 2010. A public information meeting was held at the Wilbur H. Lynch Literacy Academy at 55 Brandt Place, Amsterdam, New York on December 20, 2010. The questions and concerns raised as a result of the circulation of the DEAIDDR and those received in response to the informational meeting have been addressed in the June 2012 Design Report / Environmental Assessment (EAIDR).
The NYSTA has determined that this project will not have a significant effect on the environment. This determination is based upon evaluating those socio, economic and environmental considerations identified in 6 NYCRR Part 617. In addition, the project is consistent with the City of Amsterdam's Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan.
The project is located in the City of Amsterdam, New York.
