Project Description:

The modification of an exisitng permit by adding 46.9 acres to the life of mine. With the proposal, this mining operation will consist of a 232.4 acre limestone quarry within a 332.0 acre parcel on Kingdom Road in the Town of Warren. The project site is located approximately one half mile north of the hamlet of Jordanville. Mining is not proposed for below the local water table within the 46.9 acre expansion. Final Reclamation will restore the site to 46.9 acres of meadow and brushland. Reclamation will include re-seeding with an approved USDA SCS seed mixture. The total reviewed expansion area is 46.9 acres of which 14.0 acres will be affected during the next permit term.

Project Description:

This Department has received a request to modify a state facility permit and has drafted pursuant to Article 19 (Air Pollution Control) of the Environmental Conservation Law, an Air State Facility Permit, at the facility Special Metals Corporation located at 4317 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve the application of the Special Metals Corporation, which is involved in the development and production of nickel alloys and cobalt alloys. The modification to the State Facility Permit allows for the installation of an electric slag remelt (ESR) furnace and a baghouse as well as two vacuum arc remelt (VAR) furnaces to the current operations. The current operations include of emission units,1-ACID1, 1-BOIL1, 1FCE01, 1-GRIND, 1-OVEN1, 1-RIMX1, and 1-SAW01, which includes acid etching, natural gas boilers for furnace and heat, furnaces used to melt and remelt(refine) metal, grinding of metal billets to remove scale, preheating ovens for furnaces refractory , mixing operation for refractory, and industrial saws to cut the billets in sections. The facility has capped out of Title V Permitting requirements by tracking and restricting it's emissions of Particulates, PM-10, and PM-2.5 below individual emissions of 100 tons per year.

The draft permit with all conditions is available for review in the Region 6 NYSDEC sub-office in Utica, NY.

Project Description:

The Village of Morristown is applying for a permit to reconstruct an existing boat launch located in Bay Park along Water Street in the Village of Morristown. The existing site contains a 2 lane concrete boat ramp which will be excavated and replaced with a new concrete boat ramp. A total of 106 cubic yards of material will be used as fill and placed in the river to rebuild the two lane ramp. An area approximately 2,200 square feet will be excavated for this project. Additionally, 2 floating aluminum framed docks will be installed seasonally in the center of the ramp.
