Nassau County - The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYS OPRHP), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Jones Beach Boardwalk Restaurant and Catering Facility will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a restaurant and catering facility at Jones Beach State Park to replace a restaurant which was demolished in 2004 due to hazard and safety issues. The facility includes a public restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating accommodating more than 400 people, and catering areas that can accommodate up to 1,250 guests. NYS OPRHP and Trump on the Ocean LLC will enter into a new forty year lease for construction and operation of the facility. Other site modifications, including additional parking, are included in the project. An Environmental Assessment (EA) on the facility was prepared in 2006, amended and adopted again in 2008, and corrected in 2009. The current EA addresses new information and modifications to the project. The project is located on the site of the former Boardwalk Restaurants in the Central Mall area of Jones Beach State Park in the Town of Hempstead, New York.
