Project Description:

The department has made a tentative determination for a modification of a permit for an existing discharge of 7,000 gpd of treated stormwater wastewater from an oil/water separator treatment system, to groundwater at the facility listed above. New information recently submitted to the department indicates that permit should be modified to include, a limit of flow, sampling for Total Dissolved Solids, Total Suspended Solids, Chrysene, Flourene, Naphthalene and Pyrene. The proposed discharge is located within an area designated as a sole source aquifer. The following water purveyor have been identified as having service areas located within a 3-mile radius of the applicant facility: Freeport Village and Massapqua Water Districts and New York Water Service Corporation.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to remove and replace in place and raise 18 inches,105.8 linear feet of bulkhead. An irregular 30' x 41' boatslip will be sealed off with a 32' length of bulkhead. The existing boathouse and decking over the boatslip will be removed and not replaced. A 10' x 138' area immediately seaward of the bulkhead will be dredged to 4' below mean low water and the dredged material, along with an additional 250 cubic yards of clean upland fill, will be used to fill the area of the boatslip. An additional 20 cubic yards of clean upland fill will be brought in to cover the upland. Two six foot bulkhead returns will also be constructed. Ten existing mooring piles and two dilapidated floats will also be removed. The project is located at 241 & 245 South Main Street in Freeport, Town of Hempstead, Nassau County.

New information recently submitted to the Department indicates the permit should be modified to include a limit for flow, and sampling for Total Dissolved Solids, Total Suspended Solids, Chrysene, Flourene, Napthalene and Pyrene.
