ENB - Region 7 Notices 5/2/2012
Cayuga County - The Village of Cayuga, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Town of Aurelius / Village of Cayuga - Joint Water System will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the Village of Cayuga, in conjunction with the Town of Aurelius, undertaking a proposed water project as a joint effort. The scope of the Joint Project will be constructing a new water transmission main, water storage and Total Trihalomethane (TTHM) treatment facilities, constructing new distribution facilities and replacing existing facilities that serve those properties currently served by the Village's existing water system. The new Joint System will include two connections to the existing water distribution facilities in the Town's Water District No. 1 and Water District No 2, to allow for water supply from the City of Auburn under the Town's existing agreement with the City of Auburn. The entire project will now include approximately 68,000 linear feet of 8 inch water main, 5,100 linear feet of 12 inch water main, new water services, valves, hydrants, appurtenances, and a new water storage tank with an associated equipment building. The proposed tank will include treatment for TTHMs, which have been identified as a potential water quality issue. The treatment equipment will be included in the footprint of the water storage tank site. Additionally, the Village's existing water treatment facility and water storage tank will be decommissioned. The project is located Village of Cayuga and Town of Aurelius, New York.
