Project Description:

Applicant proposes to operate a temporary dewatering system to facilitate the construction of new storm sewers in the area of Elvira Ave, Beach 8th St, Frisco Ave and Hicksville Rd with a maximum withdrawal of 4,320,000 gallons per day. Pumped groundwater is to be directed to the existing 54" storm sewer located on Hicksville Rd between Frisco Ave and Beach 8th Street which discharges to Bannister Creek via NYCDEP Outfall ROC-601.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to restore the beach elevations at Rockaway Beach, Queens, between approximately Beach 90th and Beach 104th Streets, by bringing in approximately 50,000 cubic yards of clean sand, blending it with existing stockpiled sand, and recontouring the beach with this material to approximate the pre-Irene elevations.
