ENB - Region 8 Notices 4/25/2012
Genesee County - The Town of Oakfield, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Town of Oakfield Water District No. 3 will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the extension of public water along portions of Maltby Road, Fox Road, Drake Street, and Fisher Road in the Town of Oakfield, New York. Approximately 16,350 linear feet of watermain will be installed. In addition to the watermain, the project includes hydrants, valves, road crossings, manholes, excavation and bedding materials, watermain connections, residential hook-ups, and surface restoration. Residents in this area are dependent upon individual groundwater supplies that historically have produced very low yields of poor quality water.

Steuben County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Cold Spring Construction Co - Sand & Gravel Mine Expansion will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposal by Cold Spring Construction Company to expand its 54.5 acre surface sand and gravel mine on properties totaling approximately 225 acres located in the Town of Erwin. The mine will continue to operate with surface excavation of sand and gravel by mechanical equipment. The materials will continue to be mined from above and below the water table by an excavator and drag line, and be processed by crushing and screening. Maximum processing capacity is 150 tons per hour.
Expanded mining operations will enlarge the pond within the current life-of-mine (LOM) area into the expansion area. Up-land reclamation surrounding the enlarged pond will include the replacement of stockpiled topsoil, and re-seeding with an approved seed mixture. The reviewed expansion area is 39 acres, increasing the LOM area to 93.5 acres.
The project is located on Jones Road in the Town of Erwin, New York.
